This collage is of several of the books i have read. I started with a background of a aisle in a library with shelves on each side and stretched it to take up the entire screen. After that I used the levels and the contrast layers to make the background more distinguished. I then took several book covers of my favorite books and placed them on the background. I lowered the opacity of each individual cover and increased their size around the collage to give make sure all of them were easily visable. I also tried some of effects on each one but ended up just putting the background on top and painting through to reveal the pictures but leaving a few parts of the image covered. I then took a picture that i had already edited and put it in the center of the picture.

that's some lovely collage

ReplyDeleteBooks I've Read
Line, Movement, light and reflection of light, there some space in the back of the picture that could have been better filled given more time. The work is about the different books hes read in his life time. My first impression is that it is about books he liked. Every book fits the same color range and the "cracking" in the picture really makes it look good like it blended together. The books do not give off any value, therefore, have shape but not form. The cracking in the picture points to the center creating that as the focus. All the books are major fantasy titles. The theme is books in general, He created this work for a school project, he choose books because he liked reading these particularity. I think the artist views this world as a paranormal activity that involves eating a lot of corn syrup and bacon to make a concoction that bends the human mind into thinking things aren't there when they really are; meaning that their seeing what is really there rather than what is not. This artists view of the world, therefore, is dark and scary. My first impression has not changed, the work is good and well organized, there is some empty space, but the general feeling of the work is complete. The Crack in the picture really makes the picture feel whole and successful. Expanding and creating more layers/book covers would improve the overall feeling. I would like to try blending and fading to give an out of world appearance, and possibly adding the cracks he did to give the collage a broken appearance in some places.
